Thinking Of You…..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

How about some nice spring pastel colors to block out that snow that’s falling right now…..I dream of spring…..lol.  I made this card using the Simon Says Stamp “happy” die and the SSS “Shoot For The Stars” clear stamp set.  I embossed the back card stock using the embossing folder “tied together” by Couture Creations and the pink panel using the “swiss dots” folder by Cuttlebug.  I framed the scalloped Spellbinder die with pink pearls.

House Mouse Love….

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I know it’s not spring yet (oh how I wish it was), but I have been doing a bit of clean up in my craft room and came across this little gem by House Mouse in a box of rubber stamps that I had completely forgotten about.  I think it’s time some of these older rubber stamps see the light of day again!  I got so used to using digital that I forgot how I love using my rubber stamps.  I don’t know but there is something special when you ink up that stamp and hope for the best when you apply it to the cardstock.  Then you breathe a sigh of relief that it stamped beautifully….lol.  Guess I am just crazy that way!

Anyway this House Mouse stamp is called “Together Under The Moon”.  I colored the image with Copics then used Spellbinders oval and scalloped dies to mount it.  I got to try a new technique today and I loved it!  I used my very first stencil and embossing paste for the background paper.  The stencil is called “Falling Stars” and it’s a Simon Says Stamp product.  I mixed the paste with ink from the Hero Arts Shadow Ink pad.  The color was “pool”.  If you go to the Simon Says Stamp blog they always have lots of tutorials and techniques using different products.  This is where I got the idea to use the stencil and embossing paste.  The “love you” is a SSS die and the “forever” is from the SSS “Always & Forever” clear stamps set.

Hope you are having a wonderful day and hey if you come across some of those old stamps bring them out and play with them again!!

Beach Babes!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Well I have finally used the last of my Art Impressions rubber stamps.  I have to say I always have a good chuckle when I am coloring the images.  This one had me humming the song “Beach Babes” by the Beach Boys the whole time I was working on it! The girls remind me, of me and my friends!  I intend to use this for a birthday card.  I still have to finish the inside.  I seem to always put it off and get stuck doing a punch at one time…..big sigh!

I used my trusty Copics to color the image and layered it on pink and then green card stock by Simon Says Stamp.  They have beautiful colors and the card stock is heavy weight.  It stands tall and doesn’t warp in the middle….I just love it!!  The flowers are cut using a Memory box die called “Petal Party”.   I used the MS leaf punch for the branches under the flowers.  The designer papers are from two different paper packs.  One is Mariposa Matstack and the other is Echo Park – Happy Days.  Brads and ribbon are both by Crafts.

Cup Of Tea!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I don’t know about everyone else, but I have a hard time with cards for men and really how often do we think to make them.  We try to stay away from ribbon and flowers so most of the time the cards are quite simple.  I think I need to make them more often!  This card features another “Golden Oldie” rubber stamp by Art Impressions.  The sentiment is a stamp from Simon Says Stamps.  The image is colored with Copics.  The designer papers are from scraps left over from other projects.

Happy Anniversary!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I got to try out a few of my new dies on this card.  I used the Simon Says Stamp “happy” die and their “mini hearts” die.  The sentiment is also a stamp from Simon Says Stamp.  I also used a Spellbinders Grommet tag for the sentiment and the heart and scalloped heart dies for the cut out center.  The center of the heart was embossed with the Cuttlebug “swiss dot” folder.  A little ribbon and a nice bow completes the card.

Awesomeness!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This “Golden Oldie” rubber stamp from Art Impressions is pretty much how I look and feel in the morning.  Especially during the cold Canadian winters!!  Only I would be having tea, can’t stand coffee!  I think this sentiment from Create With TLC goes perfect with the image. I wonder which of my girls I will send this too…….look what they got to look forward to!!

I colored the image with Copics and added my own touch by giving the bunny slippers over exaggerated eyes.  I just used little circles from the left overs of a border punch and dotted the eyes with a white gel pen.  I embossed the purple cardstock with the “Swiss Dots” folder and the “Babies Breathe” folder by Cuttlebug.  Then a couple of glittered purple brads for the corners to finish it off.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Who doesn’t love a good time with friends enjoying some wine, a good laugh and a little time in the Jacuzzi!  Not sure which of my friends would be the first to remove her top….guess it depends on how much wine we drank!  Another great “Girl Friends” rubber stamp from Art Impressions.

…..and this is the reason for the title to my blog post….

Birthday Smiles!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the last one from my February card kit (for now).  Can you tell I love the flowers….lol.  This card also uses the flowers and sentiment from the “Thinking of You” clear stamps from Simon Says Stamps.  The colors of the distress markers used were peeled paint, dried marigold, wild honey, worn lipstick and black soot.  The kit also came with Maya Road chipboard arrows.  I colored the arrow with the worn lipstick distress marker.

All My Heart……

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

With Valentines Day just around the corner I figured it was time to put together a few more cards.  I am quite please with how this card turned out.  The “heart doily” dies are from Simon Says Stamp and I love them!  The smaller heart was used to make the heart border.  I love that you get a heart and a frame cut separate with this die.  I got the idea to make the string of hearts from a posting at Simon Says Stamp Blog where Jennifer McGuire used the “heart parade” die from SSS.  Since I didn’t have this die I made my own and just cut out a bunch of hearts.  The card layout is a sketch from Sketch Saturday.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: small and large heart doily dies, fancy pants “beloved’ collection, bazzill cardstock, hero arts shadow ink “red-royal” and craft heart gems.

You Are Loved…..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My 2nd card using the February card kit from Simon Says Stamp.  I was thinking this would be a nice Valentine’s card instead of having the usual red colors and hearts.  The only thing on this card not from the kit is the spellbinder die and the gems.  I used the Basic Grey’s Fresh Cut collection paper and rounded the edge using a die and then pleated it.  I love the Tim Holtz linen ribbon that came with the kit, you can pull it apart to make the ribbon wider, fabulous!  As with the other card I used the distress markers directly onto the stamps.  I like the washed out look.

Supplies: Thinking Of You clear stamps from Simon Says Stamp, Basic Grey paper pad, SSS card stock, distress markers colors are milled lavender, peeled paint, bundled sage and black soot, linen ribbon, spellbinder dies and craft gems.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I received my February card kit from Simon Says Stamp on Friday and made a few cards up over the week-end.  This card features the flowers and sentiment from the “Thinking of You” clear stamp set.  I used the Tim Holtz Distress markers directly unto the stamps.  The colors I used were worn lipstick, peeled paint and black soot.  I hope to enter this card into a couple of CAS challenges but I am not really sure this is considered CAS.  I sure hope so!
